Movie News (Oct 20, 2008)

The first 5 minutes of Disney’s new CGI film, BOLT, have been put up online in glorious HD. The sequence is the TV show Bolt, the action hero puppy, stars in. The action is clean and very entertaining. Check out the footage and decide for yourself if you’ll be going to the theater.

The trailer for PUSH, the San Diego Comic Con wonder-child (and by wonder-child I mean the, “hide him in the closet” kind), is up online and looking for far too much help from the X-Men and Heroes community to back it up. It looks like a strange CW version of Heroes with much worse writing and effects as basic as a low budget Asian actioner. Head on over to Apple for the trailer and make your own assumptions.

After a special (and I mean special) limited viewing of the up coming Summer block buster “Watchmen” many people have been raving about the film as a masterpiece, however, fanboys are complaining about that changed ending. For obvious reasons, I will not be adding too much info due to spoilers so if interested, follow the link to /Film and read up on the new ending controversy.

Terence Howard, The to-be War Machine from last summer’s Iron Man, has been dropped out and replaced with Don Cheadle. This not only came as a surprise to fans but Terence as well:

“Yeah, I found that out, too,” said Howard. “It was the surprise of a lifetime. There was no explanation. Just…up and vanished. I read something in the trades implicating that it was about money or something. But apparently the contracts that we write and sign aren’t worth the paper that they’re printed on, sometimes. Promises aren’t kept, and good faith negotiations aren’t always held up. Even friendships, people you support…”

It would seem that the new James Bond film, Quantum of Solice, is holding up after Casino Royale as good as holding in your vomitous reaction after eating McDonalds on a hot afternoon. Check out some of these critics:

Times Online: “It’s James Bond, licence to bore. Quantum of Solace may be a sequel to Casino Royale but it lacks that movie’s panache and brio.” …. “Quantum of Solace lacks any wit, ironic or otherwise, which has been a strength of so many 007 films.” …. “At around one hour 40 minutes, this Bond is shorter than most. Somehow it felt longer.”

The Guardian: ““I was disappointed there was so little dialogue, flirtation and characterization in this Bond: Forster and his writers Paul Haggis, Neal Purvis and Robert Wade clearly thought this sort of sissy nonsense has to be cut out in favor of explosions.”

The Shiznit: “But Craig’s emotionless visage is so blank, the script so bereft of character, Quantum Of Solace feels like just another day at the office for 007.”

Lost writer Brian K Vaughn says that next season ““is definitely going to be the strangest thing that’s ever been on network television. Ever.”

The trailer for Kyle Newman’s Fanboys will be attached to Kevin Smith’s Zack and Miri Make a Porno.

Quite possibly the cutest photo ever…A Biker Scout riding a chipmunk. And here’s the best part…it’s not photoshopped. It’s real.
