Not a whole lotta news

Published by junkfx under Movie News Edit This

Disney takes after Fox
When Fox announced they were stripping their DVDs sent to rental houses of all extras on the disc, we here at Junk Film had an uproar! It was fucking stupid to make your customers buy the DVD for extra features that should be on their anyway. Now it seems like the 2nd worst distribution company is following along and making themselves more of the bad guy. Disney has announced that they, too, will be deleting the extra features on all their rental DVDs.

This means, no director commentary, no deleted scenes, no special features other than the “menus are in color” and “scene selection” which I never really saw as “SPECIAL.”

On a side note, I like Hugh Jackman. Get this - For the opening show on Friday morning he was in Pheonix, Arizona and cruised by the local theater where there was a line of people waiting to see the movie, and this might be Hollywood hype and pre-planned, but he bought them all breakfast and coffee. A sharp move.

New Star Wars Footage???

Today is International Star Wars Day, so how cool is it that there is new Star Wars footage being shot. /Film reports it is, THANK GOD, not another George Lucas film, and no, unfortunately, it is not for the upcoming live action TV show. It’s for the upgrade of the Star Tours ride for MGM Studios.

“The ride really hasn’t been updated since it opened in 1987. It’s not the total podracer reboot that was rumored a few years back, thank God. I’m hearing
that its essentially the same ride but updated. It sounds to me like they might be shooting the footage in 3D, but I’m not sure.

Our source reveals that the revamp will incorporate prequel characters (like Naboo citizens and Geonosians) along with many aliens from the original trilogy (Aqualish. Bith, Rodians, etc). In the action sequence, the Star Tours vehicle is now going to be chased by Boba Fett. C3PO and R2-D2 are still the hosts, and Anthony Daniels will be recording his parts this week. Admiral Ackbar holographically communicates with the Star Tours vehicle. Right now they’re shooting mostly green screen footage, as it is the middle part of the production timeline.”

Happy Star Wars Day, May the Fourth Be With You.

Speaking of Comics Adaptation….

Could LOBO be next in line??? Lobo, quite possibly the only reason I ever read anything DC-related outside of Dark Knight Returns, has been tossed around the film realm for so long people are forgetting who he is… but it would seem that one script is being pushed along with some names attached to it (Joel Silver being one of them).

Check out the video review of the script at Latino Review.
