Marvel is following DC’s footsteps and coming out with an anime version to their big named block busters, the same way DC did last year with Gotham Knight.
First up we see Wolverine. Sigh… the only way you can tell it’s Wolverine is that the logo was at the front of the trailer. Otherwise it looks like D-rank anime with some dude with claws fighting specter demons. This looks fucking ridiculous.
Next up we have Iron Man. Now, Iron Man lends itself more to an anime style since anime is known for mecha and huge battles with ’splosions, however it fails once again when, for no reason, we have Captain Harlock show up out of no where and donning a black Mach 4 suit. Yes, my friends, Marvel is going retarded.
Why is Marvel being so stagnant on these properties? Why don’t they delve into other stories in the Marvel-verse? The whole Civil War story arch was the reason I got back into reading comics, that was pretty damn good. How about more Deadpool? Or Speedball? Or New Mutants or New X-Men, or heaven forbid even some of the older names like Namor? They are digging their own grave by over saturating the market.
Apparently Peter Jackson called Bryan Singer to help him direct a scene in Jackson’s film, King Kong. Singer of course was working on Superman Returns at the time but flew out to New Zealand to help. Here is the video…
I guess this video is kinda old but I hadn’t seen it before last night.
There isn’t much more I can say about this film other than, “WOW!”
David Yates did it perfect. True, fans will be griping about missing scenes and even some scenes that weren’t in the books being in the film, but holf living Horcruxes. It was fucking fantastic. Where 4 and 5 lacked character and excelled in action, 6 (the Half Blood Prince) more than makes up for. This isn’t to say Half-Blood doesn’t have it’s fair share of wicked action… The tense scenes were tense, the action scenes popped out from the screen, and the romantic scenes swelled perfectly.
There was never a time that I wanted more of anything, nor was there a time I thought there was too much of any element, it was divinely edited with pacing, story structure and character development crafted above all.
As I have written before, it it NOT the action scenes that drive us as an audience to care for a character, it is the development scenes, and Yates exploded with talent of the growing story and character arches in the Harry Potter story line.
I absolutely loved it and will happily be returning to a theater to see it again.
Raimi, the vision behind the Evil Dead and Spider-Man films, has signed a contract with Blizzard Entertainment to direct a big screen adaptation of the MMO, World of Warcraft. Also on board is Dark Knight producer, Charles Roven.
“At its core, ‘Warcraft’ is a fantastic, action-packed story,” Raimi said in a statement.
Check out this wickedly awesome trailer for Taxidermia. I am dying to see this.

A quick note on IMAX
Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince will be playing in IMAX in only three cities on Wednesday, July 15th — New York City at the AMC Loews Lincoln Square, Los Angeles at the AMC Century City and Chicago at the OMNIMAX Theater.
This is in thought with how many, many theaters are fucking you over by telling you it’s IMAX and it’s only 1/2 the size and in the wrong format. Other words, a waste of time and money. Be sure your theater is playing IMAX, ask what Film Stock they are using, and if it isn’t in 70mm…AND…(here’s the kicker)…it had to have been shot in 70mm originally (otherwise it’s just being blown up to fit the screen, and that doesn’t work.

It’s official… Reynolds is Green Lantern.
It’s true. After a grueling week of auditions last week with Justin Timberlake in the lead, it appears the studio has gone with Ryan Reynolds as the Green Lantern. What does this mean for Marvel’s Dead Pool film?

It’s Official, your childhood is damned.
The Associated Press has confirmed that Will Smith is producing the remake of the Karate Kid and altering it to fit his son’s role in the The Kung Fu Kid, along side of Jackie Chan. A world of memories have just been released with one, lonely and angry sigh.
Thanks again Will Smith for fucking up yet another screen gem.

Matthew Vaughn, the director of the film adaptation of Mark Millar’s comic book, Kick Ass, sat down with AICN and discussed his upcoming film.
* His Thoughts on the Rough Cut of the Film: “I don’t want to sound too arrogant about the thing because there’s nothing worse than someone saying, “I made the best damn movie of all time!”, then you watch it, and you go, “Yeah…” I can say this… not that it means much… but it’s definitely the best movie I’ve ever made. That doesn’t mean it’s a great film. But, for me, I think I punched above my weight.” * On Chlow Moretz as Mindy aka Hit Girl: “When you watch it… I will bet you any amount of money you want… anything at any odds… I’ll give you a million-to-one odds if you want… that you will a) fall in love with her, b) buy her, and c) think, “My god, I just saw the Jodie Foster/Natalie Portman of this generation.”” … “If this movie was STAR WARS, she’d be Han Solo.” * On the Look of the film: “I thought that if I shot it grittily, you’d then expect gritty shit to happen. So I thought let’s do the opposite; let’s make it glossy, so you could easily see these characters in SPIDER-MAN. but it’s like “What would happen if Spider-Man were in the real world?”” * On Test Screening: “We just test screened [KICK-ASS] three days ago, and I can genuinely say what LOCK, STOCK did for gangster movies, we’re doing for comic book/superhero films.” … “The test scores… I’m not even going to tell you what they were because you wouldn’t believe me. They were just phenomenal. And two of the things that were singled out for praise was that it was unique - it was like nothing anyone had seen before - and that it was fun.” … “Someone described it as “Teenage Tarantino”. And as much as I’d love to think I could walk on that man’s coattails, that a description that made me smile.” * On a Possible Sequel: “Mark [Millar] and I over a couple of beers came up with one of the funniest, coolest idea for a sequel that we would only be able to get away with if the film does well. We’d sort of dial it up to eleven, shall we say. (Laughs)”
It’s a far cry from Dolph Lundgren and Frank Langella’s Masters of the Universe, but here is a dose of the Bollywood version of He-Man.

Ong Bak 2
If you’re a martial arts fan then this might not be new news, and you have certainly seen the first Ong Bak that launched Tony Ja into a House hold name.
I am by no means a fan of this upcioming flick, but I gotta admit, the Japanese have a way better way of handling marketing. This trailer far succeeds the trailers we’ve seen here.
